If we are to believe that the most effective way to lose weight and keep it off is to by stabalising your blood sugar and insulin response to food, then we need to pay attention to the ways to achieve this. Keeping the blood sugar balanced depends not only on what we eat but also when we eat it.<br />

Firstly we need to reduce the amount of carbohydrate in our diets. We also need choose foods/carbohydrates with a  low glycemic-load (GL), combine carbohydrates with protein and cut back on stimulants and stress.<br />

If you eat spaghetti if example your blood sugar levels and your insulin levels will rise quite gently until the body produces insulin and then they drop. It is the peaks that damage your arteries making them less responsive to insulin and the troughs that leave you tired and sleepy and craving carbohydrates and or stimulants. It is strange that two foods made of roughly the same flour can have such different effects on the body. This is probably due to the fact that bread is cooked for longer than spaghetti. The Glycemic Index the levels to which different foods raise your blood sugar compared with the effect of pure glucose. The more complex the carbohydrate, the lower the GI, as it will take longer for the sugar to be broken down and released into the blood stream . For example apples and oats are slow releasing and raisins and puffed rice cereal are fast releasing. So the foods you choose to help you to lose weight should be from the Low Glycemic Index foods<br />

There is no doubt that sickness affects us directly, causing untold suffering and hardship.<br />

In the year 2000, the U.S. population was 276 million. Nearly half of the population &#8212; 125 million Americans &#8212; lived with some type of chronic condition. About 60 million lived with multiple chronic conditions. Examples of chronic conditions are diabetes, cancer, glaucoma and heart disease. The number of people with chronic conditions is growing at an alarming rate and this does not include the over-weight and obese people, who are trying and failing in their attempts at <A HREF="http://healthy-weight-loss-programs.com/09/weight-loss-28/">weight loss</A>.<br />

So Why Are We Sick?<br />

It may appear to be cynical but basically we get sick because poor health is economically profitable for a lot of big companies and shareholders. Including:<br />

All this food is intended to cater for the modern stressful lifestyle we are all leading. If you wish to lead a healthy life it is important to realize that you need to take responsibility for the food you eat. You need to educate yourself to understand the effects that processed foods can have on your health and also for those who are obese the effect processed food can have on your <B>weight loss</B>.<br />

Foods that are now termed partially hydrogenated vegetable oils contain trans fats, which are harmful. Trans fats increase the bad cholesterol (LDL) and deplete the good cholesterol (HDL) levels. When we eat any food we are consuming calories and we also at the same time we  burn up calories as we go through our daily routines. If our daily activities burn less calories than we take in, then we are going to gain weight. If we do  not have enough physical activity in our normal routine of life, then we must find a way to burn more calories. Exercise is the most efficient way to do this. But exercise not only burns off calories as we are doing the exercising, it also has a very important after effect beneficial in anyones attempt to achieve weight loss.<br />

Exercise raises the metabolism, the body&#8217;s mechanism for burning calories. What happens is that by raising our metabolism we not only burn more calories as we exercise, but the body continues to burn calories for a period even after we finish exercising. It&#8217;s like our body knows what is best for us, so it continues to work a little overtime to help us with <B>weight loss</B>. Exercise gives us that feel good factor, but it feels better knowing that our body&#8217;s continues to burn calories for a period after we have finished exercising.<br />

If you are looking to achieve weight loss you will be concerned with muscle tissue and fat. The muscles in our bodies use up energy and burn off the calories/fat. Even when we are at rest our muscles will be using energy, thus burning calories. However, we know that it certainly isn&#8217;t enough to lose weight or all we would have to do is sleep. While muscle tissue burns calories, the opposite is true of fat tissue. Fat cells store calories. As you can see there is an intrinsic link between muscles and fat?<br />

One uses calories and the other stores calories. More muscle means burning more fat, and therefore there are less calories to be stored in our fat cells. Since our muscles need energy, the more muscle tissue we have the faster our metabolism runs. The faster our metabolism runs the more calories we burn up. Everybody is different and unique in their body makeup. We are all unique individuals and just as we have different talents and different attitudes so we also have diferent body types.<br />

Your body type is a scientific classification of your overall body shape, and and it is determined by a combination of certain physical characteristics. Your genes determine your body type therefore, your body shape will develop from birth to adulthood. Body types can never be changed and no matter what type you possess, you can still achieve weight loss relatively quickly with the correct choices of food and tactics for <A HREF="http://healthy-weight-loss-programs.net">weight loss</A> or weight control.<br />
<P><br />
There are three basic body types for male and female are: Endomorph, Ectomorph and Mesomorph.<br />
<P><br />
Endomorphs: The naturally big boned person characterized with a round face, a soft and flabby body in general, wide hips, bigger waist, slow metabolism and high number of fat cells. This type usually finds weight loss a constant struggle.<br />
<P><br />
Ectomorphs: The skinny person with a linear appearance, small muscles, ultra fast metabolism, low body fat, narrow shoulders, hips and waist. Doesn&#8217;t usually have to worry about weight loss.<br />
<P><br />
Mesomorphs: The naturally muscular person with wide shoulders, small waist, athletic build, low body fat percentage with an increase metabolism.<br />

You may think that you fit into more than one category. This may well be true as it is extremely rare for an individual to display all of characteristics for their body type. We all display some characteristics from each body type, although one type will usually dominate. It is the dominant type of characteristics which determine the actual body types assigned to us.<br />
<P><br />
In fact whatever the  body type, if we want to achieve weight loss we need to create a negative energy balance or a calorie deficit. The number of calories we cut from our intake needs to be sufficient enough in order to see some results fairly quickly. So if we begin a new diet by cutting our calorie intake by about 500 per day we will lose weight over the course of a week or two. However just cutting calories is now not deemed to be a sensible way to approach <A HREF="http://healthy-weight-loss-programs.net">weight loss</A>.<br />
<P><br />
So what happens to our bodies when we choose to cut calories? During a calorie deficit our bodies still require the same amount of energy so they start to use up energy stores to make up for this 500 calorie deficit. However, as our bodies inevitably use up extra proteins for energy AND to maintain normal protein synthesis, we end up with a net loss of total protein. This results in a gradual loss of lean muscle, and this is the start of a lowered metabolism and consequently a slower weight loss<br />
<P><br />
Muscle loss may not be obvious when looking in the mirror because the body will take it from other, less priority areas and not just from our skeletal muscles. The stomach is a classic area where protein is broken down for use, as there&#8217;s less need for a large stomach capacity because we have lowered our food intake. Ever noticed how we can no longer eat those big meals we once used to eat before dieting?<br />
<P><br />
It would appear therefore that although you may need to cut down on the amount of food you it is vitally important you don&#8217;t drastically cut your calories as you may be doing your body and your <B>weight loss</B> more harm than good<br />

A recent study followed thousands of participants starting a healthy lifestyle plan. This study, spearheaded by Kaiser Permanente, a health guru, found that the group who kept track of everything that they ate lost twice as much weight as those who did not. Very often weight loss programs fail because the dieter is either disorganized or reluctant to be completely honest about what they have eaten. There are many weight loss programs available online and offline.<br />
One of the most popular weight loss programs is to choose foods according to their Glycemic Load (GL). All food has a glycemic index (GI) which is a qualitative measure that tells you whether the carbohydrate it contains is fast or slow releasing. The Glycemic Load tells you more about the effect that food will have on your weight, and whether or not it will cause you to put on weight. A most interesting weight loss program that makes sense.<BR><br />
<P><br />
If we believe the most effective weight loss program is to shed pounds by stabalizing your blood sugar and insulin response to food, then we need to pay attention to the ways to achieve this. Keeping the blood sugar balanced depends not only on what we eat but also when we eat it. If it works for you then luse it.<BR><br />
<P><br />
First we need to reduce the amount of carbohydrate in our diets. We also need to choose foods with a low glycemic-load (GL), combine carbohydrates with protein and cut back on stimulants and stress. For  weight loss on this diet it is important to make sure that you eat no more than 40 GL a day and at main meals you should eat low GL carbohydrates with protein rich foods.<BR><br />
<P><br />
How food is processed, is a key element in the GL of a type of food and effect it will have on your blood sugar. If you eat spaghetti if example your blood sugar levels and your insulin levels will rise quite gently until the body produces insulin and then they drop. However if you eat white bread they will rise twice as high and then drops down much lower. It is the peaks that damage your arteries making them less responsive to insulin and the troughs that leave you tired and sleepy and craving carbohydrates and or stimulants. It is strange that two foods made of roughly the same flour can have such different effects on the body. This is probably because bread is cooked longer than spaghetti. Needless to say eating white bread will do nothing to help you in your goal of weight loss.<BR><br />
<P><br />
The Glycemic Index levels indicate which foods raise your blood sugar compared to the effect of pure glucose. The more complex the carbohydrate, the lower the GI, as it will take longer for the sugar to be broken down and released into the blood stream . For example apples and oats are slow releasing and raisins and puffed rice cereal are fast releasing. Therefore, foods you choose to help you to lose weight should be from the Low Glycemic Index foods.<BR><br />
<P><br />
There is a problem with using just the GI score because as you will discover, certain foods such as carrots and chocolate have similar scores and it would be foolish to choose the chocolate over the carrots if you want to avoid the blood sugar highs and lows and ultimately weight loss. The Glycemic Load (GL) is a far better way of predicting the right foods to eat as it is an indicator of what a given serving of food will do to your blood sugar. Remember, balancing your blood sugar and insulin is the only sure way to lose weight and keep it off.<BR><br />

For anyone who has tried to stick to a weight loss diet you know how hard it can be. Dieting takes some dedication and stickability. Sometimes we can end up back where we started or worst still even putting on a few more pounds. Here are some suggestions to help you to lose weight without losing interest in your goal for weight loss.<BR><br />
<P><br />
1) Eliminating all the foods you love can be difficult. It would help if you try to eat lower calorie versions of them. Go for the low fat and low sugar versions and make sure the low fat version isn&#8217;t loaded with sugar. You also need to make sure that the low sugar version hasn&#8217;t had the sugar replaced with artificial sweeteners because this could be worse if weight loss is your ultimate goal.<BR><br />
<P><br />
2) If you are eating too much or your portion sizes are huge,that can be a problem. The larger the portions the more calories you are consuming and more calories means the likelihood of a few extra pounds evry so often. Try putting your food on a smaller plate and see if that works.<BR><br />
<P><br />
3) You should never think of exercise as being exercise or a job to do. Instead, look at it in a different way. For example, you could go swimming or walking with a friend and think of it as just a pastime instead a way of achieving  weight loss<BR><br />
<P><br />
4) Don&#8217;t let weight loss diets make you feel like you are denying yourself. Instead of thinking this way add new foods to your diet such as interesting fruits and vegetables. When people think of diets they think of having to go without, but, in this case you are adding instead of taking away.<BR><br />
<P><br />
5) If you have a probem with exercise or just don&#8217;t like it, then just walk whenever you can. Walking is a great form of exercise and many people don&#8217;t class it as exercise. You can also try to go up and down stairs more often or maybe get outside and do some gardening. Your weight loss will be enhanced when you embark on some exercises so don&#8217;t ignore this important part of your regime. Walking is such an easy and natural thing to do<BR><br />
<P><br />
6) Before eating your main meal, try to drink one or two glasses of water at least 25 minutes before eating. This will make you feel full and therefore you will eat less.<BR><br />
<P><br />
Most important, be patient when it comes to achieving your weight loss goal. Don&#8217;t try to lose too much weight all at once and realize that once you have lost the weight you will have to keep up with your healthier lifestyle to ensure you don&#8217;t gain weight again and start all over.<BR><br />

Wakame is a kelp and looks and tastes like spinach lasagne. Wakame is similiar to Kombu and it can be used in many of the same ways, particularly in soup.<br />
Wakame is probably best used in salads, added to soup or broth or used as a topping for other dishes. Soak dried wakame in water and it will expand to about ten times in size. Wakame should have the central vein cut out after soaking. It can then be either simmered for 10 minutes or cut into small pieces and served as a salad.<BR><br />

Keep a healthy thyroid.<BR><br />
The thyroid is essential to maintain metabolism and preventing the accumulation of body fat, so it makes sense to keep your thyroid healthy.  We are all unique individuals and just as we have different talents and different attitudes so we also have diferent body types.<br />
<P><br />
Your body type is a scientific classification of your overall body shape, and and it is determined by a combination of certain physical characteristics. Your genes determine your body type therefore, your body shape will develop from birth to adulthood. Body types can never be changed and no matter what type you possess, you can still achieve weight loss relatively quickly with the correct choices of food and tactics for |weight loss| or weight control.<br />
<P><br />
There are three basic body types for male and female are: Endomorph, Ectomorph and Mesomorph.<br />
<P><br />
Endomorphs: The naturally big boned person characterized with a round face, a soft and flabby body in general, wide hips, bigger waist, slow metabolism and high number of fat cells. This type usually finds weight loss a constant struggle.<br />
<P><br />
Ectomorphs: The skinny person with a linear appearance, small muscles, ultra fast metabolism, low body fat, narrow shoulders, hips and waist. Doesn&#8217;t usually have to worry about weight loss.<br />
<P><br />
Mesomorphs: The naturally muscular person with wide shoulders, small waist, athletic build, low body fat percentage with an increase metabolism.<br />
<P><br />
You may think that you fit into more than one category. This may well be true as it is extremely rare for an individual to display all of characteristics for their body type. We all display some characteristics from each body type, although one type will usually dominate. It is the dominant type of characteristics which determine the actual body types assigned to us.<br />
<P><br />
In fact whatever the  body type, if we want to achieve weight loss we need to create a negative energy balance or a calorie deficit. The number of calories we cut from our intake needs to be sufficient enough in order to see some results fairly quickly. So if we begin a new diet by cutting our calorie intake by about 500 per day we will lose weight over the course of a week or two. However just cutting calories is now not deemed to be a sensible way to approach |weight loss|<br />
<P><br />
So what happens to our bodies when we choose to cut calories? During a calorie deficit our bodies still require the same amount of energy so they start to use up energy stores to make up for this 500 calorie deficit. However, as our bodies inevitably use up extra proteins for energy AND to maintain normal protein synthesis, we end up with a net loss of total protein. This results in a gradual loss of lean muscle, and this is the start of a lowered metabolism and consequently a slower weight loss<P>Muscle loss may not be obvious when looking in the mirror because the body will take it from other, less priority areas and not just from our skeletal muscles. The stomach is a classic area where protein is broken down for use, as there&#8217;s less need for a large stomach capacity because we have lowered our food intake. Ever noticed how we can no longer eat those big meals we once used to eat before dieting?<br />
<P><br />
It would appear therefore that although you may need to cut down on the amount of food you it is vitally important you don&#8217;t drastically cut your calories as you may be doing your body and your |weight loss| more harm than good<BR><BR></p>

In the year 2000, the U.S. population was 276 million. Nearly half of the population &#8212; 125 million Americans &#8212; lived with some type of chronic condition. About 60 million lived with multiple chronic conditions. Examples of chronic conditions are diabetes, cancer, glaucoma and heart disease. The number of people with chronic conditions is growing at an alarming rate and this does not include the over-weight and obese people, who are trying and failing in their attempts at  |weight loss|<br />

So Why Are We Sick?<br />

It may appear to be cynical but basically we get sick because poor health is economically profitable for a lot of big companies and shareholders. Including:<BR><br />
* The food industry with all the &#8216;designer&#8217; junk foods and beverages that hold no nutritional value and actually make us fat(overweight) and sick.<BR><br />
* All the polluting industries that fill our lives and bodies with harmful chemicals and toxins.<BR><br />
* The &#8217;sick care&#8217; industry that figured out long ago that there&#8217;s a lot more money to be made in treating symptoms with drugs and surgeries in expensive hospitals than in patient education, prevention and natural medicine and <b>weight loss</b>.<br />

We live in the age of fast food, canned food, frozen food, packaged food, and many other types of processed and  &#8216;convenience foods&#8217;. All this food is intended to cater for the modern stressful lifestyle we are all leading. If you wish to lead a healthy life it is important to realise that you need to take responsibility for the food you eat. You need to educate yourself to understand the effects that processed foods can have on your health and also for those who are obese the effect processed food can have on your  <A HREF="http://healthy-weight-loss-programs.com/09/weight-loss-12/">|weight loss| </A>.<br />

Weight loss can seem like an insurmountable problem, especially if you have a lot of weight to lose. Some people may just need to lose a few pounds while others may have hundreds of extra pounds. Either way, weight loss requires a commitment that not everyone is prepared to make.<br />

Look around, there&#8217;s fat people everywhere and we just keep getting fatter. You would think we could figure this problem out, wouldn&#8217;t you? There&#8217;s something staring us right in the face and we don&#8217;t see it. No one seems to be concerned enough about  weight loss. To me, the problem is as obvious as the nose on our face. It&#8217;s all about what the food industry is doing to us. They offer us processed foods loaded with fats, sugar and salt. They use chemicals to change our food. It is altered through additives such as flavors, flavor enhances, binders, colors, fillers, preservatives, stabilizers, etc. To make a long story short, we no longer eat natural food.                        <P><br />
A diet exclusive in processed foods will almost certainly lead to disease such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, allergies, emphysema, stomach ulcers, premature aging, impotence, hypoglycemia and arthritis. <a href="http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&#038;q=weight+loss">Google</a> any of these conditions and obesity is a serious risk factor in all of them. These countless diseases exist because chemically-synthesized substances disrupt the biochemistry of hundreds of billions of microscopic living cells which make up the body. Some of these diseases cause weight gain and is another reason to lose weight.<br />
<P><br />
Our bodies are designed to eat natural, raw foods; there&#8217;s no doubt about that. Raw foods contain beneficial enzymes and nutrients that are destroyed through processing. To be realistic though, there&#8217;s no way we could all eat only raw foods, but it is recommended that we eat as many fresh fruits and vegetables as possible. Eliminating all processed food is probably not going to happen for most of us. And weight loss will probably not happen to all of us<br />
<P><br />
We can make better food choices and supplement our diets with missing components. We can opt for the apple over the apple juice. We can choose a baked potato or salad over french fries. We can choose whole-grain bread over the white fluff that is passed off as bread. We can take the time to read food labels. Chances are, if you can&#8217;t pronounce it, you shouldn&#8217;t be eating it. We can choose processed foods with a very short list of ingredients; the longer the list, the more processing involved, the more nutrition lost, and the less chance of healthy weight loss.<br />
<P><br />
We need to show our bodies more respect. We need to take better care of it by dieting to accomplish weight loss. Our bodies are amazing organisms, capable of extraordinary things. They are designed to filter out toxins at an astounding rate. They have a highly sophisticated defense system. They have an amazing ability to recover from serious damage. The key lies in providing our bodies with the necessary building blocks to accomplish what they were designed to do-to keep us alive and weight loss is extremely important.<br />
