Daily consumption of hamburgers and fries along with other add-ons have made it easier for teens to gain more weight and at the same time get less of the essential nutrients that their growing body needs. An unhealthy trend is developing that needs to be addressed. It is usually up to the parents to take action.<br />

So what is the quick and easy answer to help teenagers as well as adults with their weight loss problems? Almost everyone is aware that following a healthy diet and regular exercise are keys to losing and maintaining a healthy weight.<br />

big concern is more on how to find the motivation to eat healthier and<br />

institute major changes in order to provide kids with healthy meals<br />
and regular exercise. Small steps such as banning soda and fruit<br />

healthier and make weight loss easier. One is by providing real daily physical<br />
education requirements that can help make kids more active physically,<br />
a break from a sedentary lifestyle that they may be accustomed with at<br />

kids by offering only healthy foods at school meals. Unhealthy foods<br />
or snacks should not be offered as an option for kids who don&#8217;t want<br />

Having adequate fitness equipment available to all students can<br />
greatly help in motivating kids to become more active. Such equipment<br />
should be made available for everyone and not just for those students<br />
who are participating in formal sports. Schools can also increase the<br />
number of informal sports that kids can play.<br />

This way, kids do not have to be a member of the varsity basketball<br />
team in order to enjoy playing basketball at school. Of all of these<br />
changes, the program to increase physical education requirements will<br />
likely be the most useful in helping kids achieve a healthy <B>weight loss.</B> Such<br />
programs can also help them avoid becoming overweight and further help<br />
kids build good habits that might stay with them into adulthood.<br />

There seems to be no end to the lengths Americans will go to, to lose weight. From fasting to gorging, everyone seems to have the latest cure and the latest fad diet. There is no wonder people are searching online, asking &#8220;Why can&#8217;t I lose weight&#8221;?<br />
<P><br />
How crazy can diets get? How about getting injections of a pregnant woman&#8217;s urine? Or eating nothing but cabbage soup? Has the world gone mad or are they just having a laugh at our expense.<br />
<P><br />
If we are to take the question &#8220;Why can&#8217;t I lose weight?&#8221; seriously then we need to look at how that person has tried to lose weight in the past. If they have tried fad diet after fad diet and wanted to have <A HREF="http://healthy-weight-loss-programs.com/09/weight-loss-12/">weight loss</A> quickly then maybe that would be the first place to start.<br />
<P><br />
I recently had someone ask me that very question. &#8220;Why can&#8217;t I lose weight&#8221;? When we looked at her diet it was low in calories and low in protein. But what the person asking the question couldn&#8217;t understand was, she had been eating almost half the amount of food she normally ate and she still wasn&#8217;t losing weight.<br />
<P><br />
There is so much misleading information around on weight loss that it is no wonder there is total confusion. The sooner people realize that they will not lose weight permanently on a fad diet that either concentrates on one food, promises amazing <B>weight loss </B>in 7 days or suggests that you need to cut calories to lose weight, the sooner people will stop asking &#8220;Why can&#8217;t I lose weight&#8221;?<br />
<P><br />
It seems to me that the majority of people who have a chronic weight problem have been doing something wrong. They have either been eating the wrong foods or simply eating too much and probably too late in the day.  Anyone who thinks that they can lose weight by embarking on a fad diet that is far from being a well balanced nutritious regime is just fooling themselves.<br />
<P><br />
It is vital that all the  people who are saying &#8220;why can&#8217;t I lose weight?&#8221; realize, first and foremost, that a healthy well balanced nutritious diet is the only way forward, not just for their immediate <A HREF="http://healthy-weight-loss-programs.com/09/weight-loss-12/">weight loss</A> regime, but for life.<br />
<P><br />
Rapid weight loss is detrimental to your health and is unlikely ever to be sustained. Consuming low levels of calories as suggested by some diet regimes is basically a semi starvation diet and can cause loss of muscle from our organs including our heart. This is not a sensible way forward.<br />
<P><br />
Always look for the scientific evidence to back up any diet you may choose to follow. And remember it is physiologically impossible to lose more than 2lb of fat a week. Any diet promising more than that is lying. You may however lose more weight than 2lb but it won&#8217;t be fat. It will either be water or muscle and most importantly your body will not be able to sustain that <B>weight loss</B> when you return to normal eating.<br />
<P><br />
So to answer the question &#8220;why can&#8217;t I lose weight?&#8221; it is likely to be because you are not eating enough of the right foods at the right time of day. It really is as simple as that.<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Almost everyone trying to lose weight have tried a few quick weight loss programs.  We have all been sucked in the large headlines that scream. Lose 10 lbs in the next 7 days and keep it off.  We have looked at the advertising material with the beautiful, slim, blond 18 year old claiming that she has been using this program and lost 30 lbs in a very short time. I would have to take that statement with a grain of salt.<BR><br />
<P><br />
Quick weight loss programs are not the safest and healthiest way to lose weight. Sure they will all work for awhile but as soon as you stop using the program you weight goes right back on.  They are not balanced and if you are not careful they could do you some harm. So do not stay on them for any extended period. Before you start any weight loss program and especially those of the quick weight loss category you should check with your doctor.<BR><br />
<P><br />
The following are some of the quick weight loss diets that you will find out there:  the Cabbage Soup Diet, Aitkin’s Diet, Chicken Soup Diet, 7 Day Diet, Russian Air force Diet, Bread and Butter Diet, Scarsdale Diet, Metabolism Diet, Grapefruit Diet and 3 Day Diet. There are too many out there to list here.<BR><br />
<P><br />
I have experienced the Aitkin’s Diet. This diet really works for me for the first two weeks or so. It is very simple to follow. It has few rules. Just reduce your carbohydrate intake to below 20 carbohydrates a day. You can eat a limited amount of low carbohydrate vegetables and all of the meats, eggs, fish and cheese that you want since they contain no carbohydrates. However, you cannot stay on this diet forever, so after two weeks you are asked to slowly reintroduce some High carbohydrate food back into your diet. It worked for me.<BR><br />
<P><br />
After losing 10 lbs in the first two weeks everytime that I have tried this diet and I must have tried it 10 or 12 times but sadly as soon as I start adding carbohydrates back into my diet my weight starts to come back on.  So stick to a balanced diet. A balanced diet is healthy and safe.<BR><br />

There are many weight loss programs available online and offline.<br />
One of the most popular weight loss programs is to choose foods according to their Glycemic Load (GL). All food has a glycemic index (GI) which is a qualitative measure that tells you whether the carbohydrate it contains is fast or slow releasing. The Glycemic Load tells you more about the effect that food will have on your weight, and whether or not it will cause you to put on weight. A most interesting weight loss program that makes sense.<BR><br />
<P><br />
If we believe the most effective weight loss program is to shed pounds by stabalizing your blood sugar and insulin response to food, then we need to pay attention to the ways to achieve this. Keeping the blood sugar balanced depends not only on what we eat but also when we eat it. If it works for you then luse it.<BR><br />
<P><br />
First we need to reduce the amount of carbohydrate in our diets. We also need to choose foods with a low glycemic-load (GL), combine carbohydrates with protein and cut back on stimulants and stress. For  weight loss on this diet it is important to make sure that you eat no more than 40 GL a day and at main meals you should eat low GL carbohydrates with protein rich foods.<BR><br />
<P><br />
How food is processed, is a key element in the GL of a type of food and effect it will have on your blood sugar. If you eat spaghetti if example your blood sugar levels and your insulin levels will rise quite gently until the body produces insulin and then they drop. However if you eat white bread they will rise twice as high and then drops down much lower. It is the peaks that damage your arteries making them less responsive to insulin and the troughs that leave you tired and sleepy and craving carbohydrates and or stimulants. It is strange that two foods made of roughly the same flour can have such different effects on the body. This is probably because bread is cooked longer than spaghetti. Needless to say eating white bread will do nothing to help you in your goal of weight loss.<BR><br />
<P><br />
The Glycemic Index levels indicate which foods raise your blood sugar compared to the effect of pure glucose. The more complex the carbohydrate, the lower the GI, as it will take longer for the sugar to be broken down and released into the blood stream . For example apples and oats are slow releasing and raisins and puffed rice cereal are fast releasing. Therefore, foods you choose to help you to lose weight should be from the Low Glycemic Index foods.<BR><br />
<P><br />
There is a problem with using just the GI score because as you will discover, certain foods such as carrots and chocolate have similar scores and it would be foolish to choose the chocolate over the carrots if you want to avoid the blood sugar highs and lows and ultimately weight loss. The Glycemic Load (GL) is a far better way of predicting the right foods to eat as it is an indicator of what a given serving of food will do to your blood sugar. Remember, balancing your blood sugar and insulin is the only sure way to lose weight and keep it off.<BR><br />
