Good Morning America! Wake Up! This is news and information you can use about weight loss and your health, especially with the holiday season fast approaching.


According to an annual report from the Trust for America’s Health, adult obesity in the U.S. increased in 37 states this year. The report found that more than 25 percent of adults are obese in 28 states, which is an increase from 19 states last year. Healthy eating and exercise have long been touted as being far more effective than overnight fad diets. With the holiday season fast approaching, here are some foods you can enjoy while maintaining or aiming for a healthy weight. Weight loss tips and healthy food:


Green Tea: Cut down on coffee, which can lead to food cravings, and brew some green tea. While green tea contains some caffeine, it also boasts beneficial antioxidants. Green tea is always at the top of the list of weight loss tips.


Millet: Ideally, your diet should consist of whole grains instead of refined grains (such as white rice and pasta). Millet–an often overlooked staple of this food category–is a non-glutinous grain that is comprised of over 10 percent protein, and has high amounts of fiber and B complex vitamins. Additionally, it only takes about 25 minutes to cook.


Pomegranates: Loaded with antioxidant properties, this nutritious food has been linked to cancer prevention. Avoid pre-packaged juices to increase your fiber intake and keep the calories down.

Asparagus: Asparagus is extra healthy, packed with folate, vitamins A, C, and K, and fiber. Asparagus also contains a carbohydrate known as inulin (not to be confused with insulin), which promotes healthy bacteria in the large intestine.


Overweight adults are more likely to develop serious health issues, including diabetes, cardiovascular problems and sleep apnea. Also, obesity has reached epidemic proportions and is rated as one of the leading causes of death in America. This is a very serious problem that begs our attention and action. It can only be done by each individual. You are really the only one that can turn it around.
