Weight Loss

There are great healthy weight loss programs on the Internet. Here are some healthy ways of losing weight:

Eat wakame seaweed (Kelp) for weight loss.

Wakame is a kelp and looks and tastes like spinach lasagne. Wakame is similiar to Kombu and it can be used in many of the same ways, particularly in soup.
Wakame is probably best used in salads, added to soup or broth or used as a topping for other dishes. Soak dried wakame in water and it will expand to about ten times in size. Wakame should have the central vein cut out after soaking. It can then be either simmered for 10 minutes or cut into small pieces and served as a salad.

Keep a healthy thyroid.

The thyroid is essential to maintain metabolism and preventing the accumulation of body fat, so it makes sense to keep your thyroid healthy. If you think you have a thyroid problem, it is recommended that you see a medical professional. If you do have an abnormal thyroid function, there is no substitute for exercise and a healthy diet to maintain weight loss in a healthy manner.

Iodine makes up very small amount of your body weight, but your thyroid cannot function without it. If there is too little iodine in your diet, hypothyroidism and weight gain will occur. You can add iodine to your diet by taking supplements,or by eating kelp (kelp naturally contains iodine), but be very careful because of the some of us already ingest large quantities of this mineral. Which ever you choose, kelp or supplements, be sure to include enough Vitamin A, which produces thyroxin, a hormone that helps the thyroid absorb iodine and help with your weight loss program.

Kelp absorbs iodine from seawater, and it also sponges up an enormous supply of essential nutrients and delivers them to the thyroid and the rest of the body. These nutrients include protein, essential fatty acid, carbohydrates, fiber, trace elements, sodium and potassium salts, and a variety of other chemicals, such as alginic acid. Additionally, the trace mineral content of Kelp is among the highest of any known single source. It comes from the sea which has an abundance of minerals.

Iodine deficiency has man adverse effects, but it is most damaging to the developing brain. In addition to regulating many aspects of growth and development, thyroid hormone is important for myelination of the central nervous system. The iodine in Kelp helps to maintain a healthy thyroid, it significantly reducing one major possible cause of obesity which helps with weight loss.
